The native people still keep and hold their original tradition strongly. One of the uniqueness tradition is the funeral system.

This is specifically related to people’s beliefs about illness and death. The Trunyan people believe that the dead body may not be burned since the smoke will go up to the mountain and dirty the palace of God on the peak. The dead bodies will just laid on the ground under the tree  which is called mepasah. The first system is those who are buried in a way of mepasah are those who at the time of death who have been married, people who are still single and young children. The second is buried / interred but not totally buried, just a half of body will be buried. Those who died were buried after their disabled body, or at the time of death there are wounds or people who suffer with smallpox, leprosy and others. People who die by unnatural like murdered or committed suicide is also buried. Uniquely, all of the death body put under the tree called Taru Menyan. There is no issue of bad smell of body odor because neutralized by the scent of tree. Then, the name of the village derived from the name of tree which mean fragrant tree. Actually, the word Trunyan come from the word Taru and Menyan. The word Taru means tree and the word Menyan means fragrant, the both of the word combined to be Trunyan and known until now.

The other uniqueness of Trunyan Village is the ruins of megalithic stone statue for 4 meters in height, the statue kept in the Temple of Pancering Jagat. The local people still sacred the statue. Trunyan Village also owns special dance named Brutuk Barong Dance. The dance is performed to request for safety and wealthy for  the people.
